CASA®

CASA Of River Region Serves Jefferson, Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Shelby And Spencer Counties
Locally, CASA of River Region was organized in January 1985 through the joint efforts of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW)/Louisville Section, the Jefferson District Court and the Jefferson County Child Abuse Authority (JCCAA).

CASA was developed in Jefferson County following a community-wide assessment inspired by a dramatic increase in the incidence of child abuse and neglect in Kentucky. The assessment uncovered a need for additional services for dependent children as well as a need for volunteer advocates to act on behalf of children involved in Family Court. CASA of River Region was the first in Kentucky and is one of the over 900 CASA programs in 50 states nationwide.  Click here to learn more: www.casariverregion.org

Parents Television Council

The PTC's primary mission is to promote and restore responsibility and decency to the entertainment industry in answer to America's demand for positive, family-oriented television programming. The PTC does this by fostering changes in TV programming to make the early hours of prime time family-friendly and suitable for viewers of all ages.

Because of the pervasive and powerful influence of television, the PTC seeks to discourage the increasingly graphic sexual themes and dialogue, depictions of gratuitous violence, and profane/obscene language that have crowded out family viewing options. The PTC concentrates on broadcast television, which uses the public airwaves to enter every home with a television set, and expanded basic cable, which millions of households rely on for their TV programming.  To learn more visit: www.parentstv.org.
